What I like most about caring for seniors is the sense of purpose and gratification it brings. Our elders have so much life wisdom to share! I believe in the golden rule, that we should treat others as we wish to be treated. I hope that if I ever have a need for a caregiver, I will encounter someone who honors my dignity as a human being, shows patience, and puts forth their best efforts into a job well done. My own grandmothers lived with my family at different times, which afforded me the opportunity to care for elders. I started my first job as a teen, housekeeping for private residences. Some years after, I worked as an LPN in an assisted living facility. I managed medications and assisted with ambulating, bathing, and activities of daily living. I'm most often spending my spare time with my husband and four children. We like gardening, baking, hiking, kayaking, biking, or traveling. I enjoy activities like doing yoga, reading, and macrame crafts.
