I am very passionate about working with individuals with special needs and want to pursue it as a career someday. I'd love to be a life skills or special education teacher. I have my BS in Human Development and Family Science with an emphasis in Human Services. I worked at HomeLife (in Corvallis) that supported young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) for a year and I did a 3 month internship at the Corvallis High School in the Life Skills class. Between my internship and working at HomeLife I supported individuals who were deaf, blind, and physically disabled (cerebral palsy), etc. I supported them in regular day-to-day activities that most people can do on their own. I helped clean, run errands, did toileting/bathing, administered medication, played games, did art, budgeted, etc. I've had in-home experience and educational experience in school. I want to be apart of changing the way society views special needs individuals and help integrate our worlds.
