I just relocated to Albuquerque from Indiana and one of the hardest things for me was to say goodbye to my 95-year-old client that became one of my best friends during the last year. I cared for her at home, and my responsibilities included cooking, cleaning, helping her shower, administering her medications and checking her blood pressure, grocery shopping for her and taking her to appointments. I love helping people and since moving to Albuquerque I have gained experience caring for a person with advanced multiple sclerosis, another with muscular dystrophy, and also helping a client who has cerebral palsy, but is extremely independent and active. I have 28 years of experience caring for and teaching children in daycare/preschool and home care settings, but I have discovered that I love caring for the elderly as well. I try to be the bright spot in their day and it's so rewarding that it doesn't feel like work.

While I eventually went with another caregiver due to availability, Racquel was really great to me in that she understood my reasoning and she still offered herself up as a backup for appointments that may not be covered by my new hire. As I had been having a hard time finding anyone to hire at all, I found Racquel's understanding of my situation extremely helpful knowing that I would have someone to call on if needed as a backup. She called exactly at the agreed upon time - and gave her time freely during our interview. I feel very comfortable that I can depend on Racquel should I call on her for assistance during her available times if needed.
