I have worked for the agencies that charge way too much for the clients and pay too little to the caregivers. Inconsistent caregivers who are just there for the pay. I've learned being an independent caregiver helps grow a trustworthy environment and relationship with the same person. I'm still close friends with the families of the clients I've had that have passed or those who are still living. It's not just a job for me it's a way of living. Providing help and care to those that cannot do for themselves gives me selfishly happiness and pride in the little bit of humanity left in the world. I did adopt a now 91-year-old that lives with me full time for the past 6 years who was in a tough spot and couldn't afford assisted living after his kids decided they didn't want to help. He pays the mortgage and I pay the other bills it's a win win. I can ensure you I have lots of knowledge and if I don't know how to do something I will learn down to the little details.
