About Rachel

I love taking care of things; people, plants, animals, and homes. In the last 30 years I have held the title mom, teacher, homeowner, homesteader, nanny, house sitter, and pet parent. I have worked with kids in the classroom, residentially, in homes, and outdoors. I love working with kids. I love the impact we have, and although it can sometimes be hard to see in the short game, it matters. I once heard back from one of my toughest students, 17 years later, sharing their appreciation. Like all things that grow, my strategies working with youth has evolved over time. My philosophy now is about meeting children where they are at, respecting them in that, holding the boundary when needed, and supporting them with kindness and love as they experience what it feels like to come up against that boundary. I am available for longer overnight sits. I can come to your home or join you on your travels.
