About Rachel

I have worked with babies to teens in a wide variety of settings for more than 10 years. Supporting young people interacting with their world in meaningful ways that foster learning and growth is one of my favorite things! For the last four years I've worked with children and teens at Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh. I am currently teaching and providing academic support at City of Bridges High School (part time). I love cooking and can support specific dietary or wellness needs. I can keep kids engaged with crafts, good books, and homework help. I was homeschooled/unschooled and have experience working with families who choose alternative education as well as those with a more traditional path. My approach with young people is centered around mutual respect, fun, emotional literacy, continuous learning, and wellness/safety. I also provide private tutoring in reading and writing. Additionally, I'm a performer, history and plant nerd, and community organizer.
