While I have not had formal educational training relating to special needs, I have had tons of real-world experience! I have volunteered with Special Olympics, dedicated full weeks to assisting at camps for those with developmental delays and have several years' experience babysitting for a family with two children with low-functioning Autism. I also have a visual impairment myself (which does not prevent me from driving or doing any other normal tasks, thanks to adaptive devices). I have firsthand experience as well. I believe that those with special needs are a true joy to work with and they can always put a smile on your face.
