I have gained experience working with older adults through my year long internship at Vantage House, a continuing care retirement community. My duties included monitoring senior's moods and behaviors for signs of depression and/or anxiety. I spent a lot of time in the 'activity' room, providing opportunities for social engagement among the residents, such as music, exercises, and reading groups. I am also a volunteer at both, Gilchrist Hospice Services and the Alzheimer's Association. I start my graduate program in the Fall 2017 where I will earn my Master's in Social Work with a specialization in aging.
