If you can have Priscilla with your loved one, do it. Priscilla first moved in with my father to provide 24/7 companionship/assistance due to his Alzheimer’s. She’s became a part of the family, celebrating milestones with us. She lived with Dad until it became necessary to move him from his house. Even after the move Priscilla would visit and do phone check-ins to see how everyone was doing. Fast forward a couple of years. Dad experienced a couple of falls within 36 hours in the community he was living and required short-term overnight care/supervision. Priscilla ‘squeezed’ us in by working her day job and assisting Dad at night. She showed up and provided the same quality and loving care that she provided as a live-in caregiver. Priscilla provides compassionate, person-centered care with a good knowledge of Alzheimer’s and other related dementia and how to navigate communication and care within that population. She was fabulous at communicating with me and keeping me in the loop of conversations and care needed. When Dad was in a memory care community and needed the overnight supervision, she was excellent at communicating with me about what she observed and what she recommended.
