I have been a nanny for a total of 4 years. I have two younger siblings, who have given me a natural patience with children! I have most recently taken care of kids 8-12 years old, but I have experience with kids of all ages. I enjoy working with children because they're hilarious, honest and their optimism is contagious! Hired her for a full Saturday with two kids while I had to work. I didn't have a full day so I was home some of the time, doing yard work & other things. She's friendly & on-time & very quiet / shy. Wasn't thrilled that she seemed to be on her phone the whole time. She made macaroni for the kids and didn't clean any of the kitchen area, pot, utensils or dishes that were used. Maybe I'm old school, but how can I teach my kids to clean up behind themselves when the sitter doesn't even do that. I didn't ask her to sweep, vacuum, mop or even to clean up behind the kids. My only expectation was that she'd spend time with the kids & maybe play with them or read to them & keep them fed when hungry, etc. Again, she's a sweet girl & I'm sure probably way more comfortable around her only family or close friends. But in this setting, around new people... doesn't seem to be the best fit.
