About Polly

I provide literacy intervention to children in grades K-5 across three LAUSD schools and collaborate with three literacy nonprofits. My approach is rooted in the key principles of literacy, emphasizing explicit, systematic, individualized, and multisensory methods in alignment with the Science of Reading. Using assessment data, students follow a tailored scope and sequence that targets foundational literacy skills, including phonological awareness, phonics, vocabulary, morphology, and comprehension. My instructional philosophy is driven by the unique needs of each child. I am trained by the Orton-Gillingham Academy, having completed both the Classroom Educators Course and the Associate Level Course. My additional training includes Heggerty, 95%, UFLI, FRC, and SOR. I am deeply committed to educational equity, believing that all children deserve direct, explicit, systemic instruction as they engage in the process of making meaning from print to comprehension.
