Pauletta (Polly) was absolutely fabulous to have work with our kids. She felt like one of our family. We were incredibly sad when she gave us news that she was having to move out of town. She was an absolute delight! She had so many above and beyond qualities: affective gentle parenting, toddler tantrum whisper, teaching through play (not just letting the kids run the show), and her service dog was so clean and responsible and helped tame our big dogs to walk as a pack. I could work side by side with her to team care for the kids or trust her alone with a nonverbal and a newborn, which gave me the break that I needed to recover. I can’t say enough good things about the time we had her with us! She was adaptable and could role with the changes of development quickly. She followed my specific requests and surprised me with researched ideas she had been looking into when she saw a few behaviors that I was a step behind her in catching. She was patient with a nonverbal baby sliding backwards in a speech regression and helped him by slowing down to previous levels of activity to help bring him back to where he needed to be. He would express a new word almost every other day when I gave her permission to try what she wanted to try. She could put him down to nap, even when he was a level 4 clinger for only mama. She was the best nanny. We won’t be the same without her.
