About Paula

I actually began caring for seniors after taking a NA course at a local Nursing Home. I was 16 years old and I volunteered a few hours after school , I loved interacting and listening to the stories some of the residents shared and mastered wheelchair dancing! I changed specialties after obtaining my RN license and did most of my years of practice in Labor and Delivery, which I loved and rotating some in postpartum and nursery. It wasn't until 2010 that I moved from Virginia to Florida to help care for my brother -in -law , who was suffering from early onset Dementia and I became part of the caregiving team . My duties were pretty normal, give meds, meal preparation, accompanied him to medical visits, lunch, walks , the barber, reminding him about showering and assisting him with wardrobe selection and watching TV with him and keeping him safe. I was able to help a friend's family fill in for the caregiver when she needed time off. Her elderly relative had Alzheimer's.
