I have worked in healthcare in various compacities for 30+ years. I've worked as the Food Service Manager and as the Sanitation Manager in various facilities. Spending time with the elderly can be a learning experience as well as rewarding. I want to make a difference in how they live and function at this stage of their lives. Many do not have family or friends to visit them, and they easily become lonely by not having interactions with people. It's meaningful to be able to take them shopping, or out to eat or just to ride around and see the outside beauty. I am adept to fixing meals, doing laundry, light housekeeping, taking them to appointments, doing crafts with them or whatever their interests may be. Having a pet can be enjoyable and comforting to them. The elderly often need a caring companion help them along the way. My parents are 90 and 91, still living at home and at a time they need some help along the way.
