Pat was one of our caregivers who worked for our Mom from 2019 until the last months of her life. There is no better way to describe her devotion to Mom's safety and care than what happened during Ice Storm Uri in 2021, when the TX electric grid shut down. Mom was transferred to my home because I had electricity restored after 48 hours, plus my home had heat and water. Pat never missed a shift during those dark days -- improvising on care -- since there was no ADA bathroom at hand, no hospital bed and no lift chair. Pat did it all. Transfers, cooking for mom, all personal care. It was not easy and shifts were extra long. She drove a great distance to be there in often treacherous road conditions. Never missed a shift. She consistently stepped up over the years when other team members had to take shifts off. When Mom went into hospice care, she continued to check in on Mom: "I just want you to know (Mom) is like a member of my family and I miss her so much."
