I hired Olivia to come care for my 1 year old in my home while I work from home after we met in person, discussed pay and agreed on terms. Our agreement was that she would be paid for a certain amount of hours each week, and do light housekeeping when the baby naps during those set hours. She came over one day and everything seemed great. The following day, she told me she was not comfortable with including cleaning at the rate we agreed on and said she would not care for my child unless I paid a much higher rate to include cleaning. I asked if she would just care for my child without cleaning for the previously agreed upon rate and she agreed. The morning of her second day, I messaged her and told her baby was excited to play with her again, and not to feel awkward about the situation at all, and that we respect her decision to not help with cleaning. She responded and said she would not be coming back at all (only 2 hours before she was supposed to be here). My house is very well kept, my child is very mellow, and I'm thinking the pay was all that was the issue. I wish that was discussed more openly and we could have come to an agreement, but she ended contact. We paid her for her time for that one day and will not be asking for her help again.
