Hello! My name is Oliver and I am an aspiring special education art teacher. Through substitute teaching, I've worked with plenty of special needs students of different ages and skill sets. My fraternal twin sister is autistic, too, so you could say I've had plenty of experience! I have worked with students who have difficulty expressing themselves safely and who exhibit harmful behaviors. I have some very minimal Ukeru training at this time, however I have helped de-escalate my own sister as well as students and even customers from a former Starbucks job more times than I can count. I am also learning ASL and SEE as other ways of communicating with special needs folks (and for my inevitable hearing loss later in life). I love getting to know differently abled people, as they always have the best smiles and wisdom to share!
