I have 9 years of experience teaching in the special education field. My former students ranged in age from 12 to 22 years of age, and I am familiar with Cerebral Palsy, traumatic brain injury, and complex learning and healthcare issues (medically fragile). My daily focus was the development and maintenance of leisure skills, which I believe is key for keeping life fun and meaningful for all. Although I am currently transitioning out of the classroom, my favorite part of the job was building relationships and doing activities that were motivating and personalized for each individual. I am hoping to continue that by pursuing a part-time special needs caregiving role.
