Nina was the principal caregiver for my wife for nearly a year. She is mature and knowledgeable, which turned out to be a distinct advantage for my wife. Nina was effective in acting as an advocate for my wife when she was in the hospital and a rehabilitation facility. This is very important as nurses and aids in those facilities often need prompting to adequately provide for patients’ comfort and medications. On numerous occasions Nina intervened with nurses and doctors to get them to address my wife’s needs. Nina was also extremely reliable, always showing up on time, and flexible. She was proactive and willing to help out with light household tasks when needed, in addition to her caregiver duties. Nina is also physically strong but gentle. She was able to help my wife transfer from the bed to wheelchair and back. Nina became much like a part of our family and a friend to my wife. She communicated well not only with my wife, but with me and our daughter. She kept my wife’s spirits up by being a good companion, provided massages, assisted with dressing and bathing, and took my wife on walks around the rehabilitation building. Nina was also very helpful in sorting out my wife’s many medications and putting them in daily pill sorters. It was a real advantage to have a mature caregiver like Nina. She provided peace of mind for me that my wife was well cared for and relieved me much of the burden of caregiving duties.
