Hello! My name is Nicholas, I am 23 years old, and I am the brother of a beautiful little girl named K. K was born with Down Syndrome, a heart defect, Celiac, a thyroid problem, and accompanying speech/behavioral/mobility challenges. Around the age of 7, shortly after our father passed away, K was additionally diagnosed with Autism, ODD, and ADHD. Watching my mom grow as a single mother to a child with various special needs was so inspiring. My mom has been on an ever changing, ever loving, roller coaster with K since day one. We have, as a family, learned all different ways to help us calm, teach, and communicate with K. Since K was old enough, she used basic forms of sign language to communicate with us. It was such an amazing tool for her when she was not verbal in her younger years. K also requires help with hygiene, dressing, and mobility. I say all of this just to say I find such a joy in helping those who need some extra help :)
