Hello! My name is Nat and I am currently a student at Princeton University; after graduation, I plan to pursue community-engaged scholarship. In the fall, I am taking a gap year to execute independent research and grow my non-profit. I hope that the wages I earn working in childcare will help to fuel my ambitions. I have 6 years of childcare experience (primarily with ages 1-8). Additionally, I am comfortable in the kitchen and can help with cooking/meal preparation(vegan/vegetarian/pescatarian), errands, laundry, and remote learning (I have experience tutoring ages 4-7). I adore children and especially enjoy engaging in imaginative crafts, gardening, and activities aimed to help increase emotional intelligence. I am excited to meet you and your bundle of joy!

My impression is that this was the first time she worked with a family even though she may have worked with children before in different settings. She thought that her role was to be in the house in case of emergency situations rather than playing with the children. She told my children to do things on their own (read books, play piano, etc) instead of playing with them. She brought her laptop and worked on other things or was on her phone (watching tiktok, making personal calls, etc). Our previous babysitters were more attentive and involved with my children. They always played with them (playing nerf guns, playing board games, playing cards, etc), so my children asked her to play with them. However, she told them she was busy and used her computer instead. My children (8 and 10) are older, so it is possible that she thought they just required adult presence. It did not work out for us because it was too late when I raised these issues with her and was trying to resolve them. My children strongly opposed (and kept asking me to call our previous babysitter who would still be with us if she was available in the first place). In the meantime, she was receptive to the feedback when I raised these issues with her and provided thoughtful responses. In addition, she was reliable. I think it would be good to clearly lay out your expectations and her role (what is acceptable and what is not).
