I began caring for individuals with special needs in college. I was undecided as to what I wanted my major to be and took a recreational therapy class for an elective. During that semester I attended a camp for children with special needs, and I immediately knew it was a perfect fit for me. I attended the camp each year following while attending school. While in school I also I went on to work in a school program, working with children with special needs, the Cerebral Palsy Center, and Open Arms Care. I am a passionate, caring, and patient person who has been blessed with the gift of caring for others. I believe that positive interaction and care can make all of the difference in the world to anyone, especially a person living with special needs by encouraging and building social and cognitive skills. I have been blessed with the opportunity to work with some awesome people and have been told by their loved ones that they saw a positive change in their daily interactions. Due to my background in Recreation Therapy I believe and have engaged every person with special needs I have worked with in recreational and cognitive activities to promote happiness and autonomy.
