As a graduate student in St. Mary's College of California's special education program, I have been studying and preparing myself for work in the special education classroom. My main area of focus has been mild/moderate special education, where I have been taking courses in different disabilities, positive behavior support, classroom management and writing individual education programs. Through these experiences, I developed excellent leadership, research, organization and communication skills, all skills that would lend themselves well to this position. My most recent work as a general and special education substitute, and 1:1 paraprofessional in a special education classroom, has allowed me to develop an incredible amount of patience, drive, and has enhanced my communication and organizational skills. I have experience in leading full classes through lessons, small groups of students through writing, reading and mathematics lessons, as well as 1:1 work with specifically assigned students was achieved through my work as a long-term substitute.
