Moments of joy are something everyone can have, even when you are in pain, overwhelmed, or feel disconnected. My father's dementia diagnosis inspired my interest in senior care. A little over a year ago, I changed my career from marketing to healthcare. I worked for a home health agency to get training and guidance before offering private care. Through established organizations I learned and practiced skills like how to use equipment like Hoyer lifts, safe transfers, and how to address hypoglycemic shock. My clients range from people who need a little help around the house to those in their last days. Adjusting to needing help is difficult, so I like to ease the feeling of loss of independence and focus on the joy of being cared for.
