Hello! I am a certified nursing assistant and worked in a memory care facility in Austin, TX for four months last year. My experience as a CNA taught me that patience and empathy were essential to any kind of care giving, and that a kind face and a gentle tone can go a long way when working with someone who as special needs. Most importantly I learned that I genuinely loved taking care of people. I worked with a wide range of residents, from those who were high functioning to others that struggled with basic communication and motor skills, and many in between. The experience was truly life changing-I was so inspired in fact that I decided to apply to a nursing school here in Houston, TX, and I've been accepted! I will start this fall and couldn't be more excited.
