We met Natalia and her 8 year old daughter, who she brought along, at our home for an interview. She was friendly and after discussing the position, schedule, and pay we offered the position and she accepted. Everything was set or so we thought! A few hours later, I received a text message asking to renegotiate. I called her to confirm her commitment and she reassured me that yes she wanted the job so I agreed to her request. We agreed that she would start a week before I was to return to work from my maternity leave to help ease the transition. She worked the first week as agreed and immediately after I paid her for the week, informed that she could not continue working. No explanation. She simply thanked me, wished me luck, and sent me an emoji kiss. This was the Saturday before the Monday I was to return to work after my maternity leave. She had no previous experience as a Nanny. She had been in the states for only a year or so but had worked briefly (6 months or so) at a day care. On one of the days she came in, she mentioned that she had tried working at another day care but quit after a day. There seems to be a pattern so keep that in mind.
