My skills include Patience, listening, understanding. Patience: Elders get frustrated when they can't keep up the pace of walking, most need assistance with equipment. One must be very patient when a client continually repeats the same thing over and over again, they can't remember what they spoke about. Listening: It is very important for caregiver take the time to listen to client. The words do not always come out the way client is intending. Caregiver will need to listen to client more than once to have the ability of hearing what the client wants. Understanding: If caregiver does not have the patience for listening carefully then understanding will be very hard for the Caregiver. Caregivers will learn that there will be accidents, incontinence, and client may have trouble walking or getting comfortable sitting. Understanding will become a major skill for Caregiver.
