Currently, I'm studying nursing and seeking a job with flexible hours to accommodate my studies. My journey in senior care began when I started caring for my father, who had Alzheimer's and dementia. Presently, I work at Duke Regional on a general medicine floor, where a significant portion of our patients are geriatric. I have received specialized training in elder care, focusing on both physical and emotional support. Prior to moving to US I worked as a counselor for children in a school setting focusing on those with special needs specializing in conflict resolution and working with children with autism and refugee families. My strong critical thinking skills and solution-focused mindset as well as being a strong communicator ensure that all are well-informed and actively involved in the care process.

Michelle worked with me for a number of years in both senior and primary school classrooms. Michelle’s role was mainly to assist students with special needs. Michelle showed great patience and sensitivity when dealing with students who were experiencing difficulties, especially those who had trouble regulating their emotions. She was able to establish solid relationships, based on trust, with students, parents/caregivers and colleagues. Michelle’s communication skills enabled her to provide valuable feedback to all parties concerned with student learning. Michelle’s professionalism and sense of humour enabled her to work effectively in high pressure situations and made it a pleasure to work with her.
