I have 20 years of child care experience as a babysitter, nanny, preschool/ kindergarten teaching assistant, lead teacher, and substitute teacher. I have worked with children ranging from newborn to 15 years old. I have taken care of children in more than 25 private homes. Some of "my kids" grew up to have their own children years before my daughter was born. I was a lead teacher and substitute teacher for two preschool classes located at my high school, and an assistant teacher for one half-day kindergarten and one full-day bilingual Spanish kindergarten. I have taken care of single children, twins, triplets, and up to 6 children simultaneously. I have taken care of three children with autism, one child with mild cystic fibrosis, one child with sensory integration disorder, two children with infantile anorexia (formerly known as "failure to thrive"), food allergies/intolerance, reactive airway disease, asthma, and multiple children who had developmental delays and/ or attention deficit disorder. I have extensive experience with my god son who was in neonatal intensive care as a newborn, later had an aneurysm at 3 months old, underwent 10+ brain surgeries to implement a shunt, survived meningitis, and is now recovering to be a healthy and happy 9-year-old. I have unique experience soothing children at the emergency room and during extended hospital treatment. I have taken multiple children to their appointments for pediatrician, dentist, children's hospital specialists, physical therapy, speech therapy, and occupational therapy. I have continued therapy exercises at home, assisted with homework, and turned educational topics into fun activities for kids. I completed a fitness instruction course in 2002 and have modified the techniques for children to strengthen areas of developmental concern. I completed a nutrition course in 2007 so I focus on providing healthy balanced diets for children. I completed an infant care course and an infant massage course in 2008 to enhance my experience with infants. I have transported children to after school activities and a variety of day trips to playgrounds, animal & fruit farms, and museums. I have provided day care, overnight care, and also taken care of children home sick with cold, flu, head lice, and other childhood illnesses. Light housekeeping, meal preparation, bathing, emphasis on learning, limited TV viewing, and full-time child to adult interaction have always been a standard portion of my child care.
