I have had experience with a variety of populations and settings. I have a license in special needs education K-8. I also just completed coursework in reading within a reading certificate program. Most of my work has been with students with learning and behavioral issues. I most recently taught reading to teenagers with learning and behavioral issues. This went on for 4 years. I am passionate about working with children with special needs because I believe no matter how difficult the disability is, a child can learn to learn how to work with their challenges. I have seen students with reading challenges first hand go from a 2nd grade to a 6th grade reading level in one year. This is pretty incredible. You just need empathy and patience with these students and its amazing what can be done.
