About Meredith

I have 3 years of experience working in a preschool setting, spending time as a floater teacher for all classrooms (0-5 yr) and as a long term substitute for the 3-4 years and the pre-k classrooms. I was trained in the Reggio-Emilia approach to early childhood education, which teaches that kids are experts on their personal interests and their development and the job of the caregiver is to notice what lights up their unique curiosity and creativity, and do the work to expand their access to that, and to align with the child's attention span and interest on an ongoing basis. I believe in supportive, informed and safe risk taking and natural consequences to help kids learn their own boundaries and the effects of their actions in a safe, empowered way. I am a musician and often bring my harp and guitar for kids to have a whack at, and I love storytelling and facilitating imaginative play, as well as facilitating age-appropriate science and ecology exploration!
