About Melissa

I am a certified special education and elementary teacher. I have 6 years of classroom experience. I specialize in working with children with specific learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, and cognitive impairments. I provide individualized reading instruction using Orton-Gillingham-based methods (IMSE and UFLI) and I have completed 30 hours of OG training through IMSE. I also tutor in math, focusing on problem-solving strategies and fact fluency. I like tutoring because I get to work one on one with students and give them individualized instruction. I love being a teacher, but in the classroom it is so hard to give each student exactly what I need. As a tutor I am able to meet the student where they're at, review the concepts they need, while also challenging them. I started tutoring in 2020 during my first year of teaching. I have tutored 20+ students ranging from grades K-5. I am reliable. I show up on time and I am flexible and easy going!
