I have experience working as a direct caregiver for a classroom of 16 adults ranging in age from 19-40 who have severe mental and physical disabilities. I am responsible for planning and executing group activities as well as individual activities such as arts and crafts, exercise, lessons, and field trips. I also prepare and serve lunch, feeding the majority of the members myself because they are unable to do so themselves. I also am responsible for each patient's hygiene, either assisting them in the bathroom, or changing them, and keeping them clean. We work on fine motor skills and interpersonal communication daily. Outside of the classroom, I am in direct contact with each parent about their children's daily activities, behavior, and hygiene. Besides my paid experience, I have worked with special needs children for 10+ years in a group setting as well as one-on-one as a nanny, who register on the autism spectrum as well as children with physical diseases like muscular Dystrophy.

Melissa cared for our special needs child for several years, managing her daily schedule, development, therapies (and specialty therapists), feeding, and education. She helped our child obtain valuable skills and adapt to physical and developmental difficulties. Melissa was very accommodating and adaptive to the needs of our child, and will be a great caretaker wherever she lands next.
