Hello, I'm Melanie and I love children! I'm a natural at connecting with kids and teaching skills through play. I've raised two great kids. I have a bachelor's in psychology, and a master's in special education from Columbia University. I enjoyed a 20+ year career as a teacher and behavior analyst working with young children with autism. I moved my family to Portland in 2007 and started my own business called Play Connections, a natural-environment inclusive preschool. After many years of successful growth and service, I sold in 2019 and shifted focus to my own kids' college transitions while consulting and volunteering with children. I am now a part-time educational consultant and as a recent empty nester, am also looking to provide exceptional child care for a local family or two. Please message me if interested!

Melanie cared for our son when he was younger, and we couldn’t have asked for anyone better. She has a remarkable gift for turning even the most ordinary moments into fun and memorable experiences. Her warmth, creativity, and genuine love for what she does made her an instant favorite with our family.
