I graduated from SUNY Geneseo as a Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities with my Bachelor of Science degree in Speech and Hearing Handicapped. While at school I was a Special Olympics volunteer for about 3 years. I would assist participants with sports instruction, foster team building skills and hands-on learning for athletes. I have over 25 hours of clinical experience at SUNY Geneseo with clients aged 8-13, one child classified as Autistic and with Downs Syndrome. I have over 75 hours of student teaching where I worked with students K-3 classified as Speech Impaired in a General Education setting, Intellectually Disabled, Learning Disabled, Autistic, Other Health Impaired, and Multiply Disabled. I worked this past summer at Ramapo for Children where I worked with children with emotional, social and learning challenges including those affected by Autism spectrum disorders. I am now currently employed at Alternatives for Children in an integrated classroom assisting head teacher with specific tasks related to curriculum. I love children and I believe in young people which is why I want to work in a profession where I can have the opportunity to help children.
