About Melanie

I started working with kids when I was 12. I first watched my nephews when they were 3 and 4. In the past year I've watched my neighbors child, 1 yr, and my cousin, 4 months when I started watching him. In my spare time I like to read and cook. I have loved reading for forever and my nephews loved having me read to them. I love trying new recipes and experimenting with past. One thing you should know about me is that I have been taking care of children almost my whole life. When my nephew was first born I was always at my sister's house, even at 9 I just loved taking care of him. For the first year I just watched my sister take care of him and learned a lot from how to hold a baby to how to pick the strings off an orange. My skills include knowing that these are little people who don't know how to express their emotions, giving me patience. I've also learned that you have to be able to take a breath when upset, making me level headed. I'm also good at listening to intrusions.
