About Melanie

Hi! I am Melanie; I am 28 and graduated last spring with a Masters in Social Work. I am currently looking for a full-time live-out nanny position. I am looking for a fun and loving family to work for with great kids who are anxious to explore and have fun. I am flexible with scheduling and I am happy to work some nights- the most important thing to me is finding a family that I fit and work well with. Though I have been babysitting for years, I began working as a full-time nanny for a family before going back to school to receive my master's degree. When I began with that family, the girls were 2 and 5 and they are now 6 and 8 and I still enjoy working with them and watching as they grow up. After completing my masters program, I once again became a full-time nanny for a family with three children ages 2, 7 and 9. I have enjoyed working with this family very much but unfortunately they will be moving to London in the end of August and therefore, I am looking to begin working with a new family. I have over 10 years of experience working with children and adolescents in various settings ranging from in the classroom, overnight camp, clinical settings, and of course in the home. Despite the setting, I have always been focused on creating a safe environment that encouraged children's development through activities centered on their learning and participation. I am originally from Wilmette and graduated in 2003 and then went on to graduate with honors with a degree in psychology in 2007. I graduated last spring with masters in social work. I currently live in Lincoln Park and hope to find a great family to work within the Chicago area. I have truly enjoyed being a nanny. Kids to me have such a fresh outlook on life and are always inspiring me to be more creative. I enjoy watching them grow and seeing the influence that I have had on them. I am happy to run errands, do drop off and pickups, clean the house, do laundry, help them with homework, take them to museums and sights around the city, I cook (though I am a vegetarian) and I love to bake- especially cupcakes. I love dogs and would not mind caring for pets but I am allergic to cats. I am looking to work full-time with a family during the weekdays and possibly some weekends.
