About Megan

My name is Megan and I just recently graduated from college with a BA in English and am now currently working towards getting my Early Childhood Education credential at Sierra College to become a preschool teacher. For the past seven years, I have been babysitting/nannying on a part-time basis while I was pursuing my degree. But now that I am done, I am looking for a more permanent position. Experience wise I have taken care of one child to as many as four at a time, and I loved every second of it. This past June, I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to care for a young boy with autism and that experience alone has pushed me to look for a special needs teaching opportunity. When I am caring for a child, I try to keep them active, maybe go to the park, play sports outside, read a book (if they are old enough, if not I read to them), or just playing games that get them up off of the couch. My toddler experience is vast, I have taken care of a three-month-old for two years now on an occasional basis so I am familiar with diapers, nap times, snacks, breast milk or formula. I can handle older children as well. In the past, I would pick the children up from school and provide afternoon snacks and homework help, and sometimes take to sports activities or just errands that needed to be done. In addition to childcare, I would sometimes provide household chores while the children were either otherwise entertained or napping, those chores included laundry, kitchen cleaning, bedroom cleaning, and just everyday tidying up that would help the parents out.
