In college, I studied Special Education and Early Childhood Education. I learned how to identify different disabilities, monitor a child's development, and use play to create developmentally appropriate activities that adapted to each child. I cared for infant triplets for two and half years and I was constantly monitoring their development and bringing up red flags to their parents and pediatrician. While it is not paid, I have also worked in many special education classrooms during my college studies. I worked with children with emotional-behavioral disorders, autism, ADD/ADHD, Down Syndrome, and intellectual disabilities. I love working with children with disabilities. There is a special place in my heart for parents that have a child with a disability. It would be an honor to help serve these families and their kiddos, and help them navigate the stresses and successes of disabilities.
