Hello, my name is Mayra (pronounced Mai-rah). I have always loved children and teaching in different ways. From teaching at a dance studio in Sugar Land which is where I grew up, to working with children with disabilities. I was born and raised here in Houston, Texas. I have worked with children from 18mo-teenagers. I have obtained my Bachelors Degree in Human Development and Family Studies with an Early Childhood - 6th grade Teaching Certification from the University of Houston! I am currently teaching 5th grade Science & writing in FBISD. Previously, I worked part-time as a Teacher for Oral Deaf Education at The Center for Hearing and Speech of Houston with children who wear a cochlear implants or hearing aids. I worked alongside Speech Pathologists, as well as Audiologists. I am passionate about what I do and love helping children grow! Currently, I am only available after school, weekends, and school holidays/breaks.
