About Maya

I'd describe my personality as energetic, kind, and intelligent. I am patient with all of my students and happy to help with all their questions no matter long it takes for them to grasp the concepts. I am currently a 6th grade sci & ss teacher but have experience teaching ELA as well. I graduated from the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor with dual degrees in Biology and Women Studies. I am very comfortable teaching writing, science, reading comprehension, and social studies. I like tutoring because I enjoy being around children and using my knowledge to help them expand their horizons and realize their passions. In my spare time, I like to make music, travel, hang out with friends, read, do yoga, meditate, and watch movies. One thing you should know about me is I am very friendly and can put any child at ease. My skills include deep & critical thinking to break things down for students, test taking strategies and skills, and helping students see the bigger picture.
