About Maya

Hello! Here's some info about me: - Special needs experience! My younger brother has given me the opportunity to learn and grow with children who have special needs, as he is diagnosed with autism and cerebral palsy. - Worked at ASKA (After School Karate Academy) in Wilmington during my last semester attending UNCW. Karate helped teach the kids concepts of respect and honesty while keeping them engaged. I learned a thing or two about karate if you need any lessons (I'm kidding I have the same knowledge as a beginner white belt) - I've grown up as the oldest of 3 which has definitely contributed to my skills as a caregiver (specifically patience). I've learned that I care for others in the way that I would want someone to care for my own family, which makes me very protective and aware of what goes on. I've also noticed that I tend to only enjoy jobs that are fast paced and can keep me engaged as well.
