About Maya

Hi! I am a pre-med student, older sister, UCSB Honors graduate, researcher, caregiver, dog sitter, tutor, and mentor. I was the Valedictorian for the 2022 Class at LBCC and I compiled 150+ hours of community service, research, and leadership experience. At the Salvation Army, I tutored children after school and led a senior citizens exercise class. As a trainer for Train To Go basketball team, I led gym practices and beach trainings for 5 years for kids from 6-18 years old. I have great experience guiding and supporting students as a mentor in multiple organizations at UCSB. I provide compassionate care for people of many different ages and backgrounds with my experience as an Emergency Medical Scribe. I've worked on six research projects across LBCC, UCSB, and Charles Drew School of Medicine and I was a healthcare advocate in the Dominican Republic. I've earned a 3. 5 GPA and multiple honors at UCSB. My skills include time management, punctuality, flexibility, empathy, and compassion.
