About Maya

Hi! As an older sister to two younger brothers, I've strengthened my ability to care for growing children, lead by example, and be vigilant and alert around kids. Learning how to be selfless, open-minded, and accepting are unique traits I've gained from being an afterschool tutor at the Salvation Army also. I grew up playing basketball with my brothers for 12 years and became a trainer for the youth basketball team, Train To Go, that they played on for 5 years. The inborn ability to look out for others, provide loving service, and build strong relationships has helped me through my college career. I was the 2022 Valedictorian of LBCC and an Honors graduate at UCSB with 150+ hours of community service, research, and leadership experience in campus organizations. I worked as an Emergency Medical Scribe and was a healthcare advocate in the Dominican Republic. Caring for people with various backgrounds, ages, and ethnicities has transformed my empathy, patience, and compassion for people.
