As an undergraduate student, I worked as an assistant teacher in an infant/toddler room (newborn-18months). After college, I worked as a co-teacher with 12-18-month-old children in a child care center. Besides babysitting jobs for neighborhood families since age 14, I am also a Sunday school teacher at my church where I teach the primary/preschool class (3-5 years old) and a mentor. I enjoy working with younger children because they always keep you on your toes and challenge you to think 10 steps ahead! The skills that you develop (and strengthen) while working with children become vital in your every day interactions; patience, innovation, compassion, organization, etc. I currently work for a nonprofit in Westchester County, providing services for survivors of domestic violence.
