About Maya

Hi I'm Maya! I'm a current BFA student at Parsons School of Design, aspiring a career in Fine Arts and Education. I have been nannying for the last 9 years, up to as many as four kids at a time. My goal when caregiving is providing a safe space for children to be themselves. As a dance instructor, I have worked with kids 4-17 to express themselves. This can look like developing their own creative style, practicing working with others, learning body awareness, or building the confidence to make decisions on their own. I encourage active play and learning. Crafts, puzzles, and using our imagination are fun ways I like to spend time with the kids. Mindfulness is also something I strive for. My favorite memory is when a mid-tantrum toddler was able to voice to me exactly why they were upset successfully! Having full and half siblings, my family role fluctuates with the environment. I personally understand the frustrations/perspectives of the youngest, middle, and oldest child.
