About Maureen

Education and teaching are my first loves. From playing school as a child to taking my first walk into my own classroom where I was the teacher, I have enjoyed every step of the journey. Being an adviser to young people and helping them find understanding and success is the best part of teaching! I have been in the education field for over 25 years, having taught all levels of secondary (grades 7-12) English, reading, writing and communications including public speaking. Currently, I work with special education students in grades K-6 to increase their level of academic achievement in the regular education classroom. Additionally, I have extensive experience helping students use the writing process, from brainstorming to revision and editing, to helping students express themselves and produce a publication ready piece of writing. I can help your student comprehend and analyze reading assignments, produce outlines, draw conclusions and effectively write about what he has read. Recently, I started my own business in the field of education. In addition to offering test preparation services and tutoring, I specialize in the college application process from choosing a school that fits to completing the application and writing the essay that admission counselors will read to select prospective students.
