About Matthew

Hello! My teaching focuses on fostering understanding. I use a lot of visuals and reference real-world examples when possible. Most students I meet are a year behind (the recent pandemic definitely did not help with that). I do my best to help my students succeed in their current class while also teaching them strategies to help them best catch up to where they need to be. Depending on the topic, I can also provide practice work and graphic organizers for them to keep. As for credentials, I have an B. S. in Mathematics M. Ed. in Secondary Education and received the Thomas G. Lathrop Award for outstanding performance in both my mathematics field and my community. I have many years of educational experience as a licensed high school math teacher, former Mathnasium center director, and private tutor. My standard rate is $30/hour, but I am willing to do $20 for the first session as a trial run. I would be happy to answer any questions you may have for me! :) ~ Matthew
