My name is Mary and I am a student currently taking a break from school due to the pandemic. I have participated in a program for years, getting to know and spend time with peers with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. I also have experience as a caregiver for a child with Williams Syndrome as well as experience working with children with autism and ADD/ADHD. I enjoy a variety of activities from baking to running errands to gardening to sports! I have an abundance of patience, as well as a genuine love for those who do things and see the world a little differently.

There are some people that kids just take to instantly-Mary is one of those people. We were lucky enough to have Mary spend time with our 13 year old son several hours each week for 8 months. Our son has autism and intellectual disability and Mary just seemed to "get" him right away. She could follow all his games and unique ways of thinking-he would stand at the window on "Miss Mary" days with excitement for her to arrive. Her special power is her ability to be totally present with the child she is with. I learned a lot from her! If you have a chance to have Mary in your child's life-take it!!
