I think companionship is very important. Some patients don't have regular visitors. I love the companionship of my patients. I am familiar with hospice, Alzheimer's, and just about any disease that's out there. I have been doing CNA work for over 20 years. This is my life calling to take care of my patients. I took care of my mom in my home for a year before she passed away. I took care of my mother-in-law for 6 years in her home before she passed away. I've tried other lines of work but I get no satisfaction from them. Being a caregiver fills me up, mind, body and soul.
